Does anyone know if these work?

I am thinking about buying a pair of these to take to college to help my riding, especially over jumps as i always fall off. Could anyone say whether they are a good investment.

I have a pair - for sale! let me know if you want them - pm me for details! OH used them once - turns out he didn't need them - they are supposed to be quite good. I paid £10 for them, I only want £5 including p and p.

They're ok on the flat if your girth isn't forward (otherwise they pull your legs forward) but you can't put you leg back for canter aid or lateral aids (or you couldn't with the ones that I tried). I wouldn't jump in them, though, too easy to loose your stirrup!

If you're falling off you need to work on your seat, position and balance. A good (classical?) instructor, a go on one of Heather Moffett's equisimulators or lunge lessons with a GOOD instructor will be better than the straps.

Don't waste your money on them, I too have a set lounging about in the garage, they did nothing for me, and frankly, made me loose my stiruups and fall off MORE often!

Whats the difference between using these... and a piece of string to tie your stirrup to the girth?? (Obvoiusly you wouldn't tie the knot very tight... and you would use string that would break)

Woudl these also help with the airplane toes (toes out) issue??

I wonder if it would help... I wanna try it!

If the knot is loose it could come undone OR it could tighten under strain. Also, string doesn't always break!

The straps are fastened with velcro which come apart under pressure and, therefore, are safer.

I don't think (if I can remember that far back) that they're much use for 'ballerina toes'. The best thing that I've found for them are the stirrups with the 'eyelet' at 90 degrees so that the stirrup doesn't lie against the horses side. I have the wide tread Heather Moffetts which are GREAT. They don't FORCE your toes in but they do 'suggest' that they don't point out!

Might they be any help correcting a chair seat?

A friend has a pair whichI have used a few times and they did help me to keep my legs from slipping back. But I guess you would have to use them a lot before it sunk in (certainly for me anyway! ;) )

Not sure if you should use them for jumping though.

Thanks for the info guys. My position is really bad. Apparently my lower leg is insecure, so i was hoping that it could give me a better more secure leg position. I would like to try the things you said bay mare but i can't as all my riding is done at college, which is hard to do all that.
