Hi everyone!

I had my first enlightened equitation lesson with Rachel R today. It was really good!

She explained the aids for turning just with weight really well, and how to prevent my pony from falling in, which really works!

Before now, I have been able to feel the rise and fall of the horses back, but not the lateral movement, and today I was able to feel it a little in walk, and a lot more in trot. We also did some work on sitting to the trot, which I can manage for about six strides at a time now.

I also learnt about the pinch, using it to go from walk to halt, and when Penny pays attention she is beggining to get the hang of it.

Also she was great as explaining the timing of the aids especially the timing of the aids to push penny over when she starts to fall in. I was amazed that by using my leg when the hindleg was just abut to rise, that I didn't have to use much pressure to get Penny to go sideways. I usually find my self pushing really hard to get her to budge.

I have another lesson in a fortnight, so I've got lots to practice!!

Thanks Rachel R for the great lesson....

Bye Everyone!

I'm really pleased for both of you - or should I say the three of you - because I expect your horse really enjoyed the lesson too. Keep us posted.
