Anyone here own an arab x welsh? i do! have owned him 10 years now! What do you all think of yours, loads of people laugh when I tell them what RJ is because they have a reputation for being like little sports cars, fast, nippy and can go on forever! This is definitley what RJ is like! So what are all yours like character wise??? Sam X

I've got one too.... she certainly lives up to the reputation! Fast, nippy, can definitely go on forever, especially in 'nappy circles'.... I'm fast becoming a firm believer that my Arab X Welsh is one of the ones that has taken all the WORST traits from each and none of the best... she's such a fabulously 'good doer' that she gets fat on fresh air, she prances about like mad thing at all the most inapropriate times, she never stops, well, OK, she does sometimes, but only when I REALLY ask nicely, she's bolshy, self opinionated and a complete wussy when it comes to mud, rain and cold.... :D

I have a palomino arabx welsh ( 80% arab) , he is very laid back and lazy in general .... but can go up a gear and turn into a idiot in seconds then calm down again just as quick. He is terrified of his own shadow, coloured jumps and white dressage boards, and is convinced puddles will swallow him up.
He is a very pretty boy, and is a very good doer....I have to watch what I feed him or he can turn into a loon very quickly aswell pilling on the weight.
He looks good when ridden but standing still looks a bit odd with his little arab bum and large welsh chest and shoulders. Think this is why he can do some pretty impressive handstands.
I do think its a lovely cross tho....even if its just cos they are generally beautiful to look at.

I loaned an arab/welsh D ages ago. Was the most gorgeous looking thing, definately taken the looks from both breeds. Got fat off thin air, and was a nutcase  Won all the shows though, due to his prancing in hand and un asked for dressage moves that were actually him spooking when ridden shown. But, according to judges, I made him do those ;) :D Was a lovely horse if you didnt ride him though, turned into a prancing loon if you did. A proper head turner :)

Red's owner has an out on full loan 11.2h palomino arab x welsh who's 26!! Up until August this year she was doing (and winning!) novice working hunter and intermediate showjumping at our local show! (And MOORGREEN!) But unfortunately, in August she had a heart attack whilst tied up eating her haynet in the horse lorry waiting to come back home, and rolled down the ramp...she was nearly PTS but after being patient for an hour to get her in the trailer again on the way home (she collapsed as soon as she was confined - travelled home with the partition taken out of Julie's trailer), she is happily now out leading a normal life, being taken on in hand trails across the hills of Derbyshire and being companion to one of her loaner's other horses who has a broken pelvis.
But she was a lively old soul! And had the enthusiasm of a 17hh!

My second pony was arab x welsh/thoroughbred and she was wonderful. She was opinionated but in her opinion I was her human so she was happy to cooperate with me. Oh and she was a chestnut mare.

Hi all i'm new to this site and I thought i'd add a few photos of my Welsh C/Arab 13.3hh chestnut mare called Eszy, she is 21 years old and i've owned her for 17 years. These photos were taken at Anglesey Show this year in the ridden veteran class which she did really well in if not a little bit rather too lively for a veteran. I used to showjump her in a big way and she was amazing and very fast, her favourite thing is to Capriole 4 strides away at every jump and she goes very high.
She is that hard to ride even still that i'm sure if I hadn't kept her all her life but sold her when I was too old for ponies i'm sure she would of killed a child/or adult though not meaning to and herself been put down.
I love her to bits and get on amazingly with her but I tell you she would put the Spanish Riding School Of Vienna horses to same in the airs above the ground. She is perfect to handle though from the ground and children can groom her no bother and she has never bitten or kicked in her life, she is just so excited to be ridden all the time bless her.
Love Becky And Eszy X :)

I used to have one.He was called Deej.He was a 13.2hh palamino welsh section DXArab.
Some are all right but apparently a section D is like a Land Rover and an Arab is like a Ferrari.
So he wasn't a very good mix!!
He was also very stubborn and naughty.
