Today I had a lesson on Sennie with my instructor. But instead of going into the school we went out and hacked round the farm, with her on my friend's cob. It went really well as she could see me from behind, so unusually could see my position from both sides at the same time.

Sennie is always more forward going out hacking, so it was great to be able to work on my position without having to work on his impulsion as well. It must have looked a bit odd for any watchers as I leg yielded from side to side of the track.;) Wibbly riding in the extreme.:D

It was a bit of an experiment, but worked so well, I'm sure we'll do it again. I know we'll do more in the school but I'm sure Sen enjoyed it more. He always loves hacking out with a mare. I guess the beautiful morning we had helped too.:) Has anyone else tried this, and how did it go?

That's a really good idea, Cazrider. I really want to try it now.

I've had a lesson from a friend on horesback in the school before -- that was really helpful, because she could ride beside me and see exactly what I was doing with my hands, which you just can see from the ground.

But a hack lesson would be ideal for me -- I'm much more confident in the school now than I am out hacking, whereas it used to be the other way around.

Thanks for posting, I'll give it a go!

Yes, my RI occasionally takes me out - for just the same reason as yours.

One day I learned leg yield in trot. The Mare naturally went towards the hedge (snack possibility) much easier than away from it. My RI wouldnt believe it. But when you are riding you know, dont you?

Sennie in action on a hack would be a smashing sight for any watchers. Leg yielding from side to side on a farm track. I'm suprised you didnt get stopped for drink riding. :p ;) :D
