just wanted to give progress report after geting some v god advice here re my & the big girl & cantering in small school - we seem to have really cracked it & almost did a 20m circle today - just lost canter for a couple of steps- her tranisitions is much better & shes less efective at pulling me forward and unbalancing me at the moment of tranisation - so thanks everyone - but now .... how do i ensure that we ar equaly consistent on both reins - unfortunately we both favour the right rein and struggle with the left - i kno that my aids are less clear on that rein & she is generally less good on the left - the info given last time was soo goood I'm sure you will all be able to come up with good suggestions - so thanks in advance::)

How about some leg yielding left to right to get her moving off your left leg and encouraging left bend? I'm awful on the left rein too . . . my left side is considerably weaker than my right and several of the horses I ride are right-handed and I've found that bending and leg yielding really improved my canter transitions on the left.
Also, you could try leg yielding on a circle on the left rein (in walk and trot at first) . . . leg yield in and out (so towards and away from the centre of the circle) . . . again, this should help you both with left bend which is crucial to getting that canter transition. Once you've got it in walk and trot, try it in canter . . .
And the other thing you might try because it will encourage flexion is shoulder fore, again on the left rein . . .
Hope you get some other more sensible advice too . . . I'm no expert, this is just what I've done to help the righthanded horses and me on the left rein.
