Okay i've uploaded a vid now of our last jump off to go with my other thread - this was the 3rd class i've done with her (and most recent) - 2'3. Bless her she's helping me a lot with striding and whatnot but hey, practice makes perfect!

That first jump looked so wide when we were approaching it! Doesn't look it on the vid...

My own critique:

I look like i’m over-riding, went too fast over the yellow and black so jumped flat, We skidded into the second to last and just made the last cos I turned too wide, hands moving too much and not releasing enough over jumps, and toes sticking out. Had fun though!

Also, it's my third class ever, in my life, haven't had the chance to do any showjumping before I got Saphy. I always used to get in front of the movement or left behind when jumping Phantom so I think it's an improvement!

Here it is

And here are some stills - sorry they're blurry. Think my lower leg is slipping back because my stirrups are too long for jumping..as the last pic shows. They felt okay to me but my friend pointed it out when she watched my vid and I think she's right!

I agree that your stirrups are a bit long. Also, you could try and hold her canter together more - she's quite flat a lot of the time, especially coming up from trot at the beginning. If you can hold her together a bit more and get her hocks under her, the whole thing ahould be a bit easier and smoother.

But for a third attempt, you're doing brilliantly - give it time :)

You looked really good! If you would like to amke your corners a little more you need to shorten your reins but push with your legs aswell so instead of the pony going faster it will take shorter more energetic strides which will be easyer for you to turn and the pony to jump bigger:) Really good though well done:D

Think about your turns rather than the speed. If you had turned inside the brown fence after the blue double rather than going to the end of the arena you would of saved 4 or 5 seconds.

Oh yeah, I never thought of that! This is why I need help lol, all the kids in the classs know the shortcuts and I don't :o :)

But I bet it wasn't the kid that won's third competition!! You know what they say, practice makes perfect, a few more shows and your jumpoff will be much faster.

You looked good,, you just need to slow a little on your bends and corners, then you will look fab !!
