Question in the title what do you wear when doing s competitions and are there any particular rule for turnout for horse or rider?

I wear my navy jacket, fitted. ankle boots and chaps, (black) spurs sometimes. beige (sp) joddies, whip and hat with a cover to match jacket or a velvet one. I only do unafilliated, for bsja though I would wear long boots or gaiters. body protector is optional, i prefer without. and gloved if you want

Shirt with one of those show-collar thingies (like a band around your throat)

Black gloves
Black hat silk
carry a black crop (for refusals at scary horsey eating brush fences usually!)
(usually my body protector too as madam loooves shows and gets all exited and stands up on her back legs - usually whip it off as i go in the ring.)

Curly has
Saddle (useful ;))
Bridle
Tendon and fetlock boots
Personalised show saddlecloth 'Curly Wurly'
and i take a fleece to put on her while we're standing about waiting for our classes and also a thick waterproof coat for me.

If it is a flash affair I usually wear my show attire ie tweed jacket, cream jodhs ets but if it is unaffiliated during the summer I just wear smart but casual.

Black or navy Jackets are the norm but I show so I only have my silver tweed but I fing that as long as your smartly dressed no-one minds.

I have a basic normal good old velvet hat, body pro 'cos milly is unpredictable, navy jacket, yellow breeches and gaitors with toggi boots

I just wear my showing gear if I'm showing - tweed, navy hat, canary jods and black long boots with a shirt and tie. Daffy will be plain, maybe some leather brushing boots and a hunting breastplate if it's a big or technical course.

If I'm just doing showjumping though, I'll be wearing black long boots, white breeches, a black jacket, shirt, stock and black hat. Daffy will have his red saddlecloth on, and red brushing boots on if I can be bothered.

I depends what specific shows ask you to wear and also on the horse you're jumping

So our colours are Navy/Gold

I wear:

White or Beige breeches
Short Black Boots and Black Gaiters (I prefer them to long-boots)
Show shirt with a round collar
Navy jacket (with gold binding and buttons)
A Navy Velvet Hat (ordering that soon :))
Black gloves (only becasue I don't like riding without gloves)

Wig wears:

Bridle with running Martingale (because he needs one) and Jumping Saddle (Lol)
Either White or Brown Tendon and Fetlock boots
Navy Saddlecloth with Gold binding
Navy Fly-Veil with Gold binding
Fluffy Half Pad (he uses a Pro-lite riser pad at home so this is just the same thing only it looks smarter)
Elasticated Breast-girth

Here's what I wear:

White or Light colored showshirt (with ratcatcher)
Navy or light grey Hunt coat
Light beige or Khaki breeches
Black Tall boot.
Black velvet or IRH/GPA show helmet
Black leather gloves

Here's what E.T. wears:

Dark Brown bridle w/ braided reins
Copper mouth snaffle
Navy blue or black sport boots
white fleece fitted show pad
Dark brown jumping saddle
dark brown elastic girth
dark brown standing martingale

Just keep it conservative. No bright colors, and always use a fitted saddle pad. I would say either wear Jods with paddock boots, or breeches with tall boots. No Half Chaps unless they are good black leather.

Make sure to use studs too if you are in the grass ( E.T. never needs them, because we never show in grass, but they definetely help.

Also make sure everything is well fitted. Go to a reputable tack shop to get fitted.
