My sister just got a Quarter Horse named Micah. He's definately a sorrel (chestnut coat and lighter mane...plus he's registered as a sorrel anyway) and I'm not sure but I think he's roan. He has white hairs all over him but you can only see them from up close. By the way, he's only 8 or9 so they can't be aging marks...however, his stockings look a little weird, he has white on his chin, and he has a white spot on his belly.
So...is he a roan sabino sorrel? :p
Here's a pic of him. I'll try to take more of his markings. (he's the red one!)

From the pic you posted it is very difficult to see apart from looking sorrel, does she have a dorsal stripe or baring? Can you get some close up shots of her coat?

Sorrel and Chestnut are just different names for the same colors.
Maggie is a liverchestnut with such white hairs in which she gets more every year. Is like she wanted to be pinto but did not quite make it. She has what I call, "Sabino ticking".
Both her parents where pinto....and I think she just has Sabino showing through.
Could be what is happening with your guy.
It is very very hard to see in pictures but in person it is clear as day.

NO
He is just Sabino sorrel. Roan is a different gene altogether. Sabino often causes 'roaning', just as it can cause splashy socks and belly splashes and chin white, but it is not a true roan. It is sabino roaning that you are seeing. Have a look at some of the colour websites you can easily find with a google search. You'll easily see the difference.:D

The white hairs in his coat are caused by the same gene that's given him those big white socks and the blaze - sabino, not roan. Roans are uniformly diluted by lots of white hair spread evenly across the body, but their head, legs, mane and tail are unaffected. Roan is much more extensive than just a few white hairs in the coat.
He's sabino sorrel (or red - or chestnut - all the same ;) )
