I had another lesson today and I was on a different pony, Merlin. He is so small and cute, probably 13hh! Bit more naughty though, he was stretching his head down after a long time of trot, I thought, OK I will let him stretch a bit as we walk for a little bit, and when I went to get his head up again after a short rest, he yanked his head down again to pull the reins out of my hands! :D naughty boy!! But he was sweet really, my trot has improved 100% in just one lesson, and I think this is partly due to the different pony and partly due to riding in a group (being forced to a certain extent to keep up with others!) and also the longer amount of time on the horse (an hour). All in all it was fantastic, and I have made 3 new friends; am riding with them again on Monday. It should be good, and hopefully with all the extra riding I am putting in now (I normally go once a week) If I have to not ride for a week because of the X-mas break, its not a big deal. I am really happy, Now all I have to do is my three assignments for university and make a start on my dissertation! :D
Just thought I'd share the happiness with all of you, hope you don't mind! :)

Well done Nazdaq. Feels good when a plan comes together, doesn't it :D :D :D

I think the little guys get a bit under-rated sometimes. I have recently started riding a pony of about 12hh in my lessons because I was having problems with my usual mount. He is also really sweet and cute. I was worried I would be too big but he is fine with me. An advantage of being vertically challanged.

My instructor was right to suggest him because I am quickly building confidence and starting to improve again. Sometimes all you need is the right horse (or pony) for things to fall into place bit more.

Yeah, I might have overestimated Merlin's height a little, he is probably 12.2hh as the other ponies in the lesson were around the 13.2hh mark then a 15hh horse as well. Merlin is great although I thought he might have problems carrying me (lets just say I am not light!) although I am quite short. HE was fine, bless his cottons. I can't wait for monday! :D
