Rode on Merlin again today, and I was totally crap! I don't know what was going on, but when I got on my legs were shaking, and then I couldn't give effective aids at all with my legs. I was fighting with my stirrups the whole lesson....they just were not right at all, and then to top it all off I got cramp in my right leg....OUCHY! I am still a bit shaky now, and my question is, is this shaking because of a lack of salt in my diet, because I have just (on Saturday) gone on a new medication, metformin, which changes my metabolism etc. (its a diabetes medication) could this be the reason for the huge contrast between the lesson on Friday and the one today? (ie: the shakes)
Any advice would be appreciated.
P.S: I broke my boots as well, (zip broke don't ask!) and I bought new short boots and chaps, total came to £37.18, is this a good price for both chaps and leather Jodphur boots? Thanks in advance for replies.

When I was reading this, before you said about the medication, I was going to ask did you eat something before? Because, when I am hungry, or dont eat and ride, I feel faint and have to get off. Im sure its to do with your meds, but dont know anything about it. Read for any side effects or go to the doctor.
I wouldnt ride while you have the shakes though:)

Thanks for the reply, I just ended up basically just walking round the school the whole time, I'm sure Merlin was very fed up! I did eat before going, as the medication has to be taken with food, but it probably is something to do with that, I am sure I have to have a special diet, only the Drs. never said anything about that!! grrr I will have to go back to them and ask about it. Thanks again for your replies.
P.S: the boots are Shires woodstock leather jodphur boot and the chaps are also shires black suede ones. I think it was a good price, so would be interested to know others thoughts. :D

Cool, teabuiscuit, thanks for that. I have looked up sizes and I am going to go back and try a medium because they are shorter by an inch but not narrower, which is what I need. :D

im not sure if youve sorted the problem now but its likely your medication is insulin based an there fore lowers your blood sugar levels and gives you the shakes (other symptoms include confusion tingly lips and feeling hot / flushed) have a bar of chocolate that should solve the problem
