I'm thinking of possibly getting one in the next year because I find that tail bone hurts alot sometimes, (sometimes after I ride, sometimes I just notice it when I sit on a chair). Anyways, when I do sit, it really hurts. (Just some background info).
Do you think it's from the saddle? It's hard to answer, and I don't really know why I'm posting this. Do you think a seatbone saver would help? Is it foam padded, or what makes it "cushy"? :p Thanks!

Maci, they are wonderfully comfortable. the thing is you don't really notice it - until you ride without it the next time. It's spongy, but not soft, the material slowly changes so you are held softly but securely. Best money I've spent in a long time.

Maci, I bought a seatbone saver for just the problem you describe. I rarely have a any pain there now. Once in a while it still does hurt, but I think it has to do with how many hours I spend in my office chair! Anyway, try the seatbone saver! At the very least you'll find it more comfortable than your saddle alone.

I have the SBS and I love it. I've since switched to riding in a western saddle and was really disapointed that I couldn't get it fit on the saddle. I'm in the process of buying a new western saddle - which has turned into quite an ordeal, but I have discovered, (ordered and should arrive early next week) that Heather has produced a western saddle Seat Bone Saver :D .
There's a saddle coming too, and I have a saddle fitter lined up, to check the fit - so fingers crossed my long search will be over. But if its not, I still have my SBS for when I eventually get one!
Maci, they're brilliant - you'll get a good description of what they're made of in the 'Shop' section of this site. I know there are similar designs that are filled with gel, I've heard that instead of cushioning your seat, the gel floods away from the pressure of your butt and when you rise out of the saddle the gel rushes back, which to me defeats the object. Heathers doesn't do that the foam depresses to your shape and reduces/stops you sliding about. Its made from a slow recovery foam that does recover its original state, but not imediately.
I'd put money on it, that it would help you with that large striding horse you've been riding :D

Ah, you remember Lesley! :o Thanks for the recommendation, and good luck in your Western saddle search!
Thanks also, schimmer, for the recommendation. It's wierd, this pain thing...it feels like my spine is being pushed up when I sit!? Anyways, thanks all- I'll look into it more seriously (after I finally get my new boots I've had on order from the tack shop for the longest time...but that's a different story!) ;)
