:D

I did it!! YAY!!

I'm a big wimp when it comes to jumping and have only jumped B three times in the year I've had him. It is my dream to be confident at jumping and to enter a clear round comp (my far off dream is to do cross country!) So every time I do it its a big thing for me.

Last time I jumped was a few months ago... must have been october time. And I've never managed to do it from a canter, always from a trot.

So today I went up to the yard determined to jump!

And jump we did! Only did it three times (dont want to scare myself too much! lol!) But the last time we did it we cantered to it!!!!

I really need to jump more often to get used to it and get braver and feel ok about putting them up (I'm jumping xpoles on the third hole at the moment) So my new years resolution (well, one of them anyway!) is to jump once a week, even if its just what I do at the moment which is to pop a xpole at the end of a schooling session.

There is a mini one day event at a riding center near to where B is stabled in the spring, I went to the one they held a few weeks ago and the jumps were teeny to begin with (as the day went on they were raised) so I really really really hope I'm confident enough to do that. B's great, you just point and cling on! But I'd rather do it with more style than just clinging on! lol!

Anyhoo... here is a vid from today. Please remember I'm a big woose at jumping so my postition is probably not that great. But if anyone has constructive critasisms feel free to mention them... only way to learn is to ask those who know more than me! (that would be most people!)

Yay, from one wimp to another, I think you did great :D Canter one looked best (I think it is easier to go with them in canter).

My RI made us do 5 jumping lessons in a row in November - by the end I'd managed a few 2'6'', it was so gradual I hadn't really noticed it. I still get serious nerves beforehand but have a bit more confidence that I can do it, and it is fine :)

Keep it up (and n'owt wrong with clinging on, works for me :D :o )

Yup, I'm another clinger!! If I could be tied on I would be :D
BrandySnap you looked great, I think you're right to go on as you are and just keep popping something small at the end of a session when you feel confident, and just sneak the height up on yourself by a hole here and there. "Baby steps" as my instructor used to tell me :D

thankies all!

I think a friend of mine who used to do bsja might come give me a lesson, so that would be good!

way to go.... jumping is just the best, they're lovely pics. I loved seeing B at the other side of the school and waiting for him to come round, especially when I saw you had him in canter.

Biggest jumping wuss here, but I love it; have been up to 2'6 and am now back down to 6 inches, getting confidence up and everything. But its just the greatest fun and keep at it.

Thats fantastic news, well done! Jumping seems such an achievement for me as well at the moment. I used to jump alot higher in past years but now i've lost a bit of confidence and a little cross pole is alot to me!

Brilliant!!! well done. You and B are great together.
Nothing wrong with clinging, he's a great pony and he'll look after you
