Thought this was a good time to post an update...It is now almost 9 months since got Savannah and Fancy... been wonderful!!!:p My daughter and I have enjoyed every bit of it... a few things need fine tuning, but relationship between the four of us have been great! We are currently planning a move to the barn next door to be closer to where lessons are, it's just easier that way rather than walking them over and bringing them back all the time.
Anyway, Fancy has been very patient and forgiving, and to much surprise of our RI, she's been doing much better than the other 4 yo's she started training with. She's exhibited so much gentleness and eagerness to please, I could not have picked a better horse for my daughter.... (whome is the ONLY one she prefers riding her :p )
Savannah has also proven to be a great teacher for old mom here.... she's been so patient with me. And really babysitting the fact that I am no great rider, I think we are so much alike that we really work together well... I enjoy quiet rides and trails...and she does not want to go any fater than a trot... A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN don't you think? :D
Oh...the last new RI I found that was 'overly' opinionated? Was not as professional as she made herself to be.... she never called us back for lessons, after insulting our horses, my daughter's riding shoes, and literally insulted me adn my choice in purchasing our horses, she was just plain and simple...RUDE! We see her at the barn and says nothing to us, I am somewhat angry...but maybe she's just not what I need anyway with the type of RI she is, seems to cater pretty well with well to do young riders though... even tacks up their horses for them... but I suppose we weren't in that caliber for her... we were no FANCY HORSE PEOPLE. My only regret was my daughter was so looking forard to dressage lessons with her, and how do you explain such unprofessionalism and rudeness to a child???
We've learned sooo much through the last 9 months anyway, and I can't believe we started with such doubt about buying 2 horses and just nervous overall on what to do. Friends have been helpful and encouraging to both my daughter and I, and we have really found something that we love to do together... I can't encourage enough people to find a better way to spend time with their children than being around horses... it's been an amazing time and we look forward to many many many more years of this.
