No, BAD idea, I dont know much about shoeing, but Im pretty sure that is a BAD thing to do, even when the ring isnt mucky.

My main reason for not riding or jumping on loose shoes is that they could easily get pulled off and damage the horse's feet and/or legs in the process - especially if they only come half off...

It can be quite dangerous to jump with loose shoes. I saw a nasty fall happen like that. The horse had a shoe loose but was still jumping - it some how twisted round and brought the horse down after the jump when he was just about the canter away from it.

It can also be dangerous to ride a display in the show ring with loose shoes!
I was judging at a show, our local farrier had gone away for 6 weeks and every horse had dreadful shoes, so I told everyone we would not take shoes into consideration.
A Welsh D was just doing his thing across the diagonal and two of his shoes came whizzing off, just missing me and another competitor!

At one of the local shows I go to watch sometimes, i saw a horse jumping with what I assume were loose shoes, because one went hanging off, spun round and a nail stuck in the poor horses frog. Ive seen it happen to YO dressage horse too, his shoe was slightly loose, but he prances in whatever he does and was just tied on the yard one day, pranced sideways, knocked the shoe and it came loose, spun round and dug in the frog, causing an abscess. So I dont think you should jump with them like that.

I wouldn't even ride him with loose shoes! Too many things could go wrong!
