Woah, horses are expensive over there! I worked him out to be £8,700! (sorry I was curious!)

He is gorgeous though, nice for you to be able to compete him, he looks lovely :) I'm jealous of how tiny you are though!

Can I just ask why you have him in a standing martingale, he doesn't look like he needs one from the photos?

Actually i've noticed that the majority of horses on american or canadian jumping programmes or photos wear standing martingales, why is that? It seems to be nearly all horses? (particularly noticed it on that programme Horsepower)

Only critique I can think of is to maybe put your stirrups up a couple of holes, to prevent your lower leg from swinging back :)

Like I said, he's not mine so I don't get to choose which tack he wears. However, pretty much all of the horses except maybe one at my barn wear martingales. If it's done up properely then it doesn't affect anything.

He looks nice. Would agree that your stirrups could be a bit shorter, especially if you're planning on jumping higher.

Why do they use them then if they don't do anything?

He's gorgeous! Lovely jumper too. Wish he was a stallion - Would suite Lacey quite nicely I think!

He wears a martingale because hunters wear martingales, and the jusdges beleive they look naked without them.

How silly!

Agree that that's silly!

Over here, you would expect that if two horses were on equal points and everything after the jumping and flat phase in a working hunter class, that the one without the martingale would win because it was deemed a better mannered ride in that it doesn't need a martingale. Just highlights the difference between the two countries.

Well, sometimes he does need the martingale too because he stretches his down beyond the point of contact....
