G'day! True fact, though I'm not sure its one in three, maybe one is five or something?

I've heard that grey horses are especially prone to a horsy sun cancer (forgot the name but starts with m)

I reckon that right anyway! I heard that on another horse forum, on a yahoo search, from the horse manager and in a horse info book. So 4 places, probly correct!

melanomas yes, cancer not necessarily. most horsey melanomas are not cancerous, and it's rare that they grow big and fast enough to actually be a cause of death - most old grey horses die of normal old age before their melanomas get big enough to affect them.
