Cam any owner of a full-up 12.2 - 12.3 Exmoor tell me whether a pony-size bridle fits, or do you need a larger browband/longer throatlatch/bigger noseband or what?
In particular, I would like to know what length browband (end to end) your Exmoor needs.

Thanks!

Hi there! I've had 4 Exmoors in my liftetime. The biggest being 12.3hh. I used pony sized bridles on all of them. They seemed to fit comfortably, including the browbands.

i beg to differ :D

my 12.13 exmoor has a cob sized bridle with a full size browband :D

spoke to another exmoor owner at a show once and we decided they have to create bridles with ...

full browband

pony sized cheekpieces and the other bits cob sized!

Thanks - I did have my suspicions ... largely owing to thinking of ponies I have known who wear pony-sized bridles and have dainty little jaws, a slender curved throat and a restricted brain volume ...

Whereas Exmoors have strong jaws for grinding heather and other moorland goodies, and a sturdy throat to keep their blood warm as large volumes of it flow to nourish the brain behind that broad forehead of theirs.

This is not going to be as simple as I had hoped ...

Thanks anyway.
