Have you ever had one of those moments...

when you just sit back and breathe a sigh of releif?

I had one recently. Since moving yards Forest can be ridden everyday, has put on weight, is happily in the field with another horse and has a bigger stable.
Its so nice to see him happy and be able to go down the yard and only worry about my horse. Of course if I see something wrong with his field mate then I say and get offered rides on the other horses. (I rode his field mate today!)
At my last yard I was expected to put the other horses before Forest so its nice to only do Forest for once. I have so much time on my hands now. The people at the yard are great and we all have a joke around. Any problems are said straight away and nipped in the bud.
I don't have to supplement hay in the field anymore as he has more grass out there. Although he is still on hard feed that has gone down loads. He used to have 2 meals, now he has 1 and that has also reduced loads.
Its like for once I can relax around Forest and concentrate on him. Its nice to have the other horses around and the possibility of riding them or going on a drive with them but its not expected of me.
So this is me breathing out and smiling!

What about other people, ever had a moment like this?

Yup !

I *think* I'm on my way to having one of those moments over the next week (regarding getting a saddle to fit my horse ! It's only taken 6 months )

I did breathe a big sigh of relief though after I moved from my last yard as I'm completely independant from any busybodies and I love it

Yep definitely!!

This time 9 weeks ago I was working on a yard, paid f*ck all and bullied by the others. My horse was stabled 24/7 with limited hay and masses of mix, she was skinny and miserable. Even leading her to the school for her daily 15 mins turnout was a nightmare as she would rear and buck on the way, and despite hours and hours of schooling she was nigh on unrideable.

Cue 2 yard moves and death threats from my old YO....

Now, she lives out 24/7 in a large mixed herd. She hasn't eaten hay for about 6 weeks as there is loads of grass. She is totally chilled to handle and all the schooling has paid off, everything has fallen into place. The best bit happened today when after weeks of losing shoes, we finally got out onto a first hack. We rode for ages until we came to this great big grassy hill where the track goes on for about 2 miles, so you can guess what we did!!!

Anyway we got back, washed our horses down and watched them wander over to the rest of the herd and I sat down in the field for about half an hour and I realised its taken a year of horse ownership, 2 yard moves, and a career change but we are finally both happy

I have found that I have oodles more time since I moved off my own land and sub-let it out and moved Joy over the road.

No chores except poo picking.

Relaxed atmosphere, Joy happy in her little herd and very relaxed.

I feel like I actually want to ride everyday. I have been sat on my hands tonight to stop myself going down there again (rode this morning - so much for not doing weekends!) and doing some groundwork with her

I have never had as much time as I have now to ride. I even tacked up when it was raining and schooled her in that.

I have changed so much and Joy has too. Life doesn't get any better than this

Well..I get the keys to my house on Monday..which means instead of being 50 miles away and having him on full livery and only seeing him at the weekends when I stay with my OH..I'll be 1.8 miles away. Yes just ONE. point eight miles! Which means i'll prob cycle down and save on petrol and horsey will go on part livery and i'll be able to see him every day!!!!!!!
