Hi Im new
Hi Im new to this forum and what attracted me was this section. I have previously been in contact with the lady who is Monty on here through the Monty Fund website but I owe her an apology for never ringing unfortunately I deleted the email with the number in by mistake and then couldnt work out how to contact you again so please accept my sincere apologies for that.
I have 6 horses and ponies in total and compete in in hand showing and Im hoping to get into driving. I have Ellie 15hh Traditional Cob, Rosie 14.2 Welsh x Cob, Razzle 11.2 Welsh A, Lydia 11.2 Welsh A, Mollie 34" Shetland and Charlie 28" Mini Shetland.
I have bi-lateral dislocated hips which I was born with and find riding quite difficult now and also the day to day care of the horses on my own as I get quite a lot of muscle pain. But I am very lucky to have the support of my Dad who does a lot of the heavy work and sometimes all of it if Im having a bad day.
Wouls find any tips for help with mobility issues around the horses useful! Have been looking at the saddles thread which has been really useful and thought as Im nosing at all this information I better introduce myself.

Hello to you
I am also very new to this forum , I have lost my leg above the knee and was begining to give up hope and since asking for a little help the people on here have been fantastic with their ideas and really just support knowing that there are like minded people who really all understand our problems which are all different but they are still able to try and help. You seem to be doing really well with the amount that you have and what you are aloready doing keep up the good work, sorry no real advise but a big welcome to you.

I can understand how your feel about hip pain and riding as I have just had a hip op.
I went to lots of different people to try and alleviate muscle pain and an oseopath and chiropractor combined both helped but they need to understand your condition.
I used to try and do a few stretching excersises before getting on which eased the initially "ouch". Riding was what I enjoyed and I soon overcame the pain mentally.
Once in the saddle I would walk round the school without stirrups to stretch my legs and then went for hack. I did often take a pain killer before getting on board. I did buy a treeless saddle which was completely wrong for me. It was just to wide for my hips.
I was determined not to let my disability interfere with something I loved doing so pushed passed any pain.
I never mounted from the ground and had a good high mounting block which I just could almost step on to my boy.
I have now had a replacement hip op (see other posts) and now out of action for a bit. Is there something they can do surgically?
