Question How to measure a girth?

Right, having ended up getting a girth on ebay which was too long, and messaging two others on ebay about size, people seem to be measuring excluding buckles. Am I wrong , I thought you measured the length in total including buckles.

I thought it was buckle to buckle, the whole girth.

Thanks, I mean I have two girths with different length buckles so if you didn't include the buckles they would measure differently.

I was taught you measure buckle to buckle but stop half way where the strap goes in.

But since everyone does it differently ask them to measure it how you want it done.
