Requiem for Sasa

Requiem for Sasa, my golden girl

I saw Sasa for the first time on Dragon Driving, descrdibed as ride and drive, her face haunted me.

She touched my heart, you could see the sort of situation she was in and i could not ignore those eyes and that hopeful face. She arrived at the end of November, covered in mud, with her face cut to bits by a headcollar far too small. Her feet were terrible. She was scared and worried and very quiet.

Remember these feet

She had to stay out in the fieldshelter as we didn't have a spare stable but she was quite happy with her rug on

She became Leo's adoptive mum and taught him a lot

December 2010, a big girl

Finally made it into the stables

She began her training, walking out in hand, she walked over this scary bridge without a thought

The summer of 2011 before it all went pearshaped, we thought she was pregnant but no just Michelin Comtois

The grass is always greener.....

Leo found many ways to make use of her back

He loved his mum so much

The day she became ill

During her 'recovery'

Her last day in the field with a broken bone undiagnosed for 3 months -this horse should not have been walking - talk about bravery

Sleep well, golden girl, i am so sorry you are gone

You did right by her from the moment you saw her to the moment she left you, D&T. She was an absolute credit to you.

Sasa.... sadly missed

This ^^^^^^^^ no one could have done more for her than you. She is keeping her eyes on you. She sent her spirit to you in another horse. Xxxx

Her story is truly heart breaking. I'm so pleased that you found each other and she finally had peace and contentment. I just wish it could have been for longer.
Rest in peace beautiful girl x

Lovely photos and a lovely story.
Just such a shame it ended the way it did

She was a beautiful girl and you both clearly loved each other very much

Moved to tears by this post - she was so lovely and you did your very best by her every step of the way. So glad you found her - she was transformed by you into a lovely chilled out girl, no longer the anxious girl in the first pics.

Sadly missed Sasa - very special girl xx
