New Leather Horse boots... what to do

I just bought a set of open front leather horse boots I've wanted these for soo long! I'm soo excited!
Now I just want to make sure that I do all the right things... so that they last... cause they were pricey!!

So I was told that I have to oil them before using it... or else it might crack.

So should I just go buy some saddle oil/conditioner (or neatsfoot oil) and just take a damp cloth and rub it over a few times? Or do I need to soak it in the oil?

And what else should I do for regular maintenance... how to care for them, etc...

Thanks

Sabre advise you not to do anything with their boots, other than a wipe down with a damp cloth and a bit of boot polish when needed.

I do not have any experience wth them but i would treat them like a normal piece of leather tack

wipe down with a damp cloth/sponge if muddy and clean every week or so and treat with neatsfoot gel or something alike. If they are stiff to start with treat with neatsfoot gel to soften up a bit.
