Yes and me... i've always fancied a go!!!
You would need a cotton sort of material with a fluffier one underneath. It would be quite simple. Just put some wadding in between.
I might give it a go!!

Do be careful if you make your own about seams and so on, if you place them wrong or don't make them flat they can cause pressure points and/or rubs.

You'd need to find thick cotton material (or fleece) and then something to line it with such as foam. Sounds like a great idea though, you could even embroider it or sew on something like this: http://www.freeapplique.com/butterflypatterns.html

This may also be useful: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/20060150585.html

Good luck!

quite a few years ago i got a book out of the library on how to make 'horsewear' . It was very good and i made a few numnahs, saddlecloths and even a couple of fleece travel rugs! tbh the price of material today and the prices of ready made items in robinsons catolouges etc i think its not worth making them anymore. but if you are bored and want something personalised its worth a go. you can probably still get the book but i can't remember what it was called. it was in the horse section though.
