We did our first show since May today, and we had entered in hand hunter, and show hunter pony. We have had a lot of rain up here recently, so I honestly thought it would get cancelled (so norty me didn't do much practice

)
Anyway, we hacked up there with only a couple of minor paddy strops when the other horses we were hacking up there with went on in front and he couldn't see them, and were there well in time for the first class.
We went in for the in hand class first, and the ground was really boggy, on the first trip round the ring, he slipped and stood on my little toe (which is now all red and sore!), he kept calling out for the other horses, but still managed to come 2nd much to my astonishment!!
We then went in for our ridden class in a ring that was even boggier than the in hand ring! He walked ok, tripped a couple of times in trot, but absolutely refused to canter (self preservation

). We managed to get a bit of canter on the left rein, but nothing at all on the right rein

On his individual show, again I asked for canter, and he just had a paddy fit (as if to say 'mother, it is boggy, I will get my feet all dirty and I might slip and fall'), so I decided not to force the issue and give up!
The judge was lovely actually, she thought he was great, but obviously couldn't place him anywhere but last as he had not cantered!
Maybe we will just stick to in hand in future!!
No pics I'm afraid - no cameraman!!
