And in all of this I have to say how absolutely totally and utterly proud I am of Rosie. I couldnt have been more proud of her if i had given birth to her
You just made my day, I really enjoyed reading about this. Not only did you overcome your own fears, you "filled in" for your buddy and got her relaxed and going. Your on your way now.
The site is a little slow (dont think its my PC) but my friend and I are pics 1599 - 1670 - Im no. 85. If you cant be bothered to look at them all my favs are 1620, 1642,1643, 1667 and 1670

Thanks. I like 1604 but she doesnt really look like that - perhaps she does and I just havent got used to her winter coat. Its funny but when I try and picture her I think of soft muzzle on my cheek and grassy warm breath before I get a visual image Goodness - smitten or what!!!!

Well done, I was looking for your thread in the cafe area but found it here.
There is some really nice photo's of you and your horse in there. Congrats on getting round the pleasure ride, where abouts in the forest was it ? I'm in the New Forest as well (down southern parts) and will be probably doing a few this time next year

We did Janesmoor pond to the High Corner Inn and back so near Fritham. I think it was 20 miles from Bournemouth.
I was taking the pics so they are mostly of my friend - for some reason i kept taking photos of her bent over! There were a few more boring scenery ones that I left out.
Look at our rosette!!!!!!
What a fab day

What a fantastic post (I've only just caught up!).... gave me so much hope! I have posted in another section on here that share loan pony arrives Friday and one of my ambitions for the future is to do a pleasure ride... I do get nervous and loan pony is apparently rather strong and excitable hacking in company so I suspect it will be a loooonnnng time before we achieve our ambition! - but hey it's something to aim for! Well done to you and your pony is gorgeous. (I grew up not too far from the Forest, it's a wonderful area).
After threatening to get my rosette bronzed, I decided that might be a little OTT even for me so have mounted some pics and the rosette in a frame. I know Im 40 yrs old and all that but it really has been a massive acheivement and I want to remember it. If Im honest its only other horsey nervous nellies that have any idea what its been like - all my friends think 'yeah yeah you rode your horse - so what!!!!' So Ill look at it while Im sat in my office/shed and try not to get too teary eyed over it all and look forward to the next one
Here's the pic
Damn - Ive just realised I put the wrong date - it says November instead of October - bugger!!!!! Ill wait til the glue on the rosette is properly dry and then change it - the paper is stuck down with non permanent glue so should be OK! Rats!!!!!

love the rosette and photos in the frame -- good idea
nice thing to have next to your desk so making it easy to daydream of the ride when work gets boring!!
will do the same with my funrides I think!

What a lovely idea, Anna! Of course it represents not 'just' a pleasure ride, but a huge step forward in your horsey life. No need to get teary about it though.... it's bound to be the first of lots of them.
I look forward to posting photos of my first ride with Frayne next year (thinking positively!)
Ali xx
Going to hold you to that one!
Have friends in Milford Haven and believe they have had lots of weather these last few days Hope you're not too windswept and wet!

Where did you find details of this fun ride ? I'm in the same area as you and would like to do some in the future. Is there a local list somewhere ? NFED ?

This one was on NFED but you couldve missed it really easily. Depending on the health of the organiser there should be another around Easter time - keep an eye out. My other main source of info is http://www.wessexendurancegb.co.uk/html/rides.asp Im not sure exactly where you are but there are 4 Dorset rides I am thinking of going to and some others dotted about that arent too far. Although they are mainly proper endurance rides they all seem to have a non competitve fun/pleasure/training ride of around 10-15 miles. We can go pootle at our own pace but pretend we are playing with the big boys Who knows...one day we might just take 'em on!
I was inspired by a post on the classifieds section - the one advertised was too far away but it prompted me to do a search for local stuff Of course once you've been to one, you get onto the mailing lists. There is also http://www.ridingdiary.co.uk/funrides.asp but there isnt much locally. There is another website called funrides uk - that does nothing but fun rides but they seem to have crashed this week despite the fact I had email from the owner last week - Ive been using google chrome and it keeps making my pc go screwy!!!!
