Kids and Evening Performance

What are kids meant to wear for evening performance? Obviously for adults top hat ect but surely kids wo't be allowed to ride without proper hats on? She shows SHP if that makes a difference so normally turns out in tweed, light canary jods, jod boots, navy hat with flesh strap and canary shirt with red tie

We did it last year - daughter was 8

She had 3 classes - SHP, WHP and Veteran

pony turned out as it was for the class plus a tonne of glitter! For us that was 3 tack changes as we had plain bridle then plain + martingale and then show pony bridle - but we had an hour between each class thankfully!

child - stayed the same for all classes:

navy jacket

navy hat

sparkly white stock

canary jods

white sparkly hair bits - I used a scrunchie as I couldn't find plait ribbons - more prepared for this year!!!

oxblood boots

brown gloves

normal showing cane/whip

this shows all the pics for a whole evening performance

Brilliant thank you

Just need to get a stock then, and some more glitter as only stuff we have is purple lol, sure she'll be pleased with that! Are ribbons better for evening? She normally just wears a scrunchie but guessing idea is to bling up?

I have seen kids on SHetlands in toppers in evening performances and TBH it looked dreadful.

Stick with what Snowyboy says.

Of the shows where my granddaughter did the evening performances then it was her choice which hat to wear. She wore a bowler hat, as did many of the contestants, and looked very smart. If thinking of safety issues then I suppose it all depends on how well behaved the pony is and how competant the rider is. Her pony was very, very safe and she was competant so I had no issues with the safety aspects.

scrunchie is fine!

Its just I was told by a judge to pop her back in pig tails to make sure she looked her age!!! She looks much older and bigger on the pony than she is - its quite funny when the judges see her off the pony - they are like OMG she's tiny (well she isn't tiny as it happens - not anymore! - but when you see her on the pony and then off its quite a shock LOL)

But if she shows in pigtails then I guess she should stay in pigtails for the evening!

And makes it easier to do her hair LOL

but a scrunchie is totally fine - just me being lazy LOL

Same as you, sometimes she gets them put in to make her look younger lol, specially in things like pony club pony, pony most suitable for child ect as even though she's not big (in fact the opposite, she's really lickle for her age) gets told she rides like she's alot older than she is, so it reflects well on the pony if she's seen to be her actual age rather than older if that makes sense?
