Welshie experts....
I know very little of what is desired in a welshie (I am happy to stick to my big lucky-legged TBs and TBxIDs thank yoooou) but I do have two welsh ponies. Now, they do the job they were bought to do (Louise a happy hack/all rounder and Truffles.....well, Truffles was bought out of sympathy so it wouldn't really matter if it only had three legs) but I do take them out showing periodically for something to do. They only go out locally, and I wouldn't care if they came last as long as they behave. However I am just curious how they match up to their breed standard?
Truffles, Welsh Section A, standing 11hh, will be 3 in August:
and Louise, Welsh C x D (dam was a C, sire a D), will be 7 next month, standing 14.1hh:
(she is stood a touch downhill here)
Louise has quite a high knee action which (I think) is frowned upon?
Truffs on the other hand doesn't really bend his knees at all, preferring to move from the shoulder:

Can't comment on the breed standard but Truffles. mind you I prefer him hairy!
Louise I would have said looks a little Horsey about the head for a Welshie, though I think she is gorgeous. But I think her knee and hock action are very desirable, in a D, anyway?

I'd say they are both nice examples of their breed, however I'm really not sure.
Louise is stunning, just my type and Truffles is soo cute

Truffles looks like a nice type, as he is still a baby it'll be lovely to see how he turns out but he looks in fair proportion to himself at the moment. The A's are a funny breed in terms of their head, there are very different opinions on what is preferred. From what I can see he has a nice broad face, but it's maybe a little long and possibly weak in the jaw - but both of these could just be the pics or his age. He will change alot over the next few years though!
Louise is looking wonderful now, much more D like that when you first got her! She looks to have a good overall shape, in the ridden pic she looks very much like a D - the high knee action is very sought after. Look on youtube for the Sec D stallion videos for a good idea of the desired movement. From the pics my first impressions would be to say that maybe her head is a little cobby, but then again alot of the old fashioned D's had this trait, the cute pony head that many people know now is really a cosmetic thing that has been bred in. Inca's sire was a senior welsh champion, gold medallist and reserve George Prince of Wales Cup (most coveted award a welsh cob can win) but he was a very old fashioned type and although was stunning he didn't have the same tiny pony head as many others have.
What are her bloodlines? If you were to show her she would look very nice in a white rope halter!
My advice would be to look at different breeders websites and compare the pics to your ponies to get a good idea of how they compare. If you want to see some pics of stunning movement try and get some pics of Ciffig Cymro Du (black stallion, champion in harness at most shows in the UK) and Drogeda Stormy Tempest (very successful in hand and under saddle).
Can also recommend looking at these sites for good breed examples:

Thanks
Her head is cobby (or "numb" as I keep getting in trouble for saying!). Her sire is Malnor Copper Pride and her mum is a homebred section C who's breeding isn't recorded on her passport.

Does her passport say who her grandparents etc are?
I can't quite make up my mind on her head - that's the trouble with photos, you can't always get the feel for how they really look. And as I mentioned before, some of the old fashioned types do have what would be considered a more plain head.

ahhh, that makes more sense if the dam is part bred, so Louise would be registered as a part bred also? the other thing I was going to mention was that it's quite uncommon to get many grey C's or D's
who are her grandparents on her dad's side?

Yep she's registered as part bred She's actually passported as roan, this pic was taken when she was rising 4, she's greyed with age!
 ignore the date, lol

This is the link to her sire's pedigree - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/malnor+copper+pride

I just had a nosy at her dad's pedigree, Nebo Brenin is Scarlet's Grandad :-D she is a registered sec D.
sorry I know sire is the horsey term I should use and not the human terms for family...but then I'm her new mum

She's very well bred on her sire's side, quite a lot of the really influential stallions in there!

I am certainly no expert in the Welshies but both are rather nice.
For me personally Truffs seems a bit long in the back, could just be how he is stood, but usually the A's are quite compact.
Sioned is Part Bred D same as Louise. Louise has a really nice sturdy body with a leg in each corner, looks like her movement is fabulous and again its difficult to tell from a picture but I think Sioned has a slightly more dished head than Louise. Her Mum was the Welsh D and her Dad was Traditional, other than the fact she is Coloured she favours far more the Welshie side of her Breeding.
At the end of the day just enjoy your showing, its what the Judge likes on the day
