Exclamation My dogs found a foal leg!

My new girl has recently come into season so I have been walking the dogs in the woods and fields next to my horse field as they are pretty much dog free (apart from my lot, lol).
We were walking in an area where travellers have recently been and my Spaniel comes running up to me with something in his mouth, at first I thought it was a deer leg, but on looking closer it looked like a foals leg It had a sock, some feathers and a very small hoof, it was from hock down.

The had obviously had horses up there as there was horse muck, piles of hay and an area where a horse had been tethered.

I hate to think what happened to the poor little mite

How horrible, I bet he was really pleased with it as well, I know mine would be.

Every time a human body is 'found by dog walker' I have visions of a labrador bringing a hand or something, tail wagging, licking his chops.

Poor little thing, hopefully it was natural causes, still traumatic for the mare though.

I have maybe already come across bodies but the pack just devoured them.

That must have been an upsetting thing to be brought. Bad enough when its a deer leg.

My parti coloured whippet (white with a tiny bit of black) scented something and ran off, I ran after him, and when I eventually caught him, he was covered in blood, and I mean covered in blood! Turns out it was a foal afterbirth, but it was way before I had pones, it was only my next door neighbour and fellow dog walker who seen the mare tethered that calmed me down.....I thought I had discovered a body part!!!

Took about 4 washes to get it off!!!

I didn't mind so much when it was a deer leg, but for some reason when I knew it belonged to a foal it made me feel a bit ill

My dogs are raw fed so I'm used to them catching rabbits and cutting them up with an axe or poultry shears.

Reminds me of the time I working on a cattle station and they were de-balling the young cattle the dogs came in and ate all the balls. Apparently the farmers dad used to fry them up and eat them. ICK!
