Trot pole spacing

Can someone remind me what the trot pole spacing should be? My mind has gone blank and i can't remember!

For Storm at 15hh 5 paces.

For trotting poles I use 1 pace which must be about 3ft

I use 5 'foot spaces' which is about 1m i guess. My boy is 16hh and has a very long stride though. I guess it really depends on the length of stride of your horse.

For my boy I do 4 and a half pigeon steps (one foot in front of the next)

for my 14'3 cob i use 6 of my feet.
