Save money!

Save money!!

-One time I didn't have my brush for the mane and tail with me when i was grooming my ponie. I happened to have my regular hair brush with me, and i used that. It worked great!! Now i use that instead of buying an expensive horse brush!

-For those who use alot of leg wraps, a bandage roller is woth the investment. They are inexpensive and sold at most tack shop.

-If you are alays pulling your horses tail, save those long peice and wad them together to make a great scrubbing pad.!!!

good luck everyone...any qustions..email me or post.

I just use my fingers on cullins tail as it's a bit scraggy from being broken by being brushed with a brush!

Heres some moremoney saving tips~!
Hay string rope-
Get old hay strings (baling twine) and turn them into colorful strudy leadropes, lungelines, or even dog leahes. You only need to buy a snap or use an old one.
You need nince hay strings, a strong snap, anda way to keep the strings taut while you're working. If you want a smooth lead, cut off the knots, but if you leave the knots, they will provide better grip. take all nine strings nd run about 8 inches od string through the hole in the base of the snap. Fold the strings over and seprate them into three sections. once this is done, braid the three sections together. The braid is a simple one like used for braiding a huntrs mane. When you reach the end of the rope, tie a knot in it and pull the knot tight. There! you have a ready to use lead rope. if you want to make it longer, adda second set of three strings to each of the three sections, about 12'' beforethe end. This will lock in the new strands. for a thicker rope, simply add more strings to each section. But you must have three equal sections of strings to braid. They can last for years if u use it properly!

Bit cleaner-
If your bit is covered in grime, Boil the bit or clean copper bits with a bit of ketchup! Leave the ketchup on for at least five minutes to let the acidity work its magic!

Cedar chest-
Instead of buying an expensive vinyl covered tack trunks, at flea markets, and antique stores, you can buy a cedar chest! they keep out rodents if you customize it with some paint or elbow grease. You can also use Tupperware or rubbermaid bins!

Old bed linens-
O.B.L are exceptionally versatile. Fitted twin-sized sheets can be made into excellent covers for saddles! Zippered or regular pillowcases will protect you bridles from dust! and for the flat sheets, use clean sheets ripped into 3'' strips for wonderful leg wraps or emergancy bandages!

Thats all for now~~private msg me if any questions!!

We use tooth paste and a tooth brush to clean bits. If they are really nasty, put them in the dishwasher.

horsegirl--- thats what we do at our barn too! Isn't it weird how ketchup can do that? My mom liked how it worked so much, that she uses it on her pots and pans now too, he-he.

You should try instead of using a normal hairbrush a dentangling comb. I used to have to use one for my own hair as it was really long and got tuggy very easily! when one of the tongs broke I took it to the stables and used it on my horses tail! it doesnt break the tail and leaves it lovely! also spray the tail one day a week with mane and tail conditioner and then during the week if theres a really stubborn knot put a little baby oil on the knot then use the comb! it works even in my little welshies tail!

as a short term solution to swelling feed 2 sticks of celery twice a day, this is a natural anti inflammatory. however if your horse wont eat it then dont force him as this means they dont need it! even if your horse seems fine its worth trying as they will only eat it if they need it! my gelding loves it but my mare hates it!
