I've perfected a way of giving 'bute' etc to my pony. Take a smallish apple and core out a hole in the top big enough to take medicine dose. Insert medicine and cover with a teaspoon of black treacle. Place small piece of apple on the top. IMPORTANT - you MUST cut of sides of apple to make a cube shape so that it does not cause any choking. Your hose will smell the treacle and take the apple and medicine without noticing it. I suppose honey or syrup would work as well. This works for me anyway.
