Bit suggestions?

Coquette is currently in a stainless steel Korsteel, single jointed eggbutt snaffle. She's going fine in it, but of course, we're always trying to make sure our horses are as comfortable as possible, so I'm considering getting some second-hand bits and trying them out to see if she works better in something else.

Her previous mouth injury healed nice, but she's got some scarring on the left side which doesn't bother her, but it means that her lips don't close if the mouthpiece is quite thick, so Happy Mouth or vulcanite/rubber bit is out of the question as they're all quite thick. Her current bit is a 15mm and she can close her mouth fine. Besides that, she's got a fairly normal mouth. She takes up a decent contact and mouths the bit well. RI wonders if maybe she might like a roller or keys to play with to keep her tongue occupied, I'm wondering if maybe a French link would make her happier.

Any suggestions? Nothing with a curb or no bitless, please. She needs to stay in a snaffle for competition purposes.

hey, well i had a problem trying to get my horse happy in a softer bit. When i bought him he was in a rugby pelham and a curb chain and all that nonsense lol! he didnt need that strong a bit and so i tried A LOT of different ones to see which would suit him best. I now have him in a snaffle roller and he loves it! the rolley bits on it keep him quite amused and he gives a great contact in this bit! i cant ride him in a field with it in mind, but its great for schooling etc! its slightly thicker than a normal eggbut snaffle but dont think it would cause you any problems.

My guy came with a single-jointed eggbutt snaffle and has gone quite well in it. Recently I've tried him in a friend's French link eggbutt. In a way he feels softer in it, but he bumps off the bit more with it than with his single-jointed bit. I also tried him in a soft-mouth French link loose ring, but he did not like it at all. I think the mouthpiece was too thick for his tongue. I have just about decided to keep him in the single-jointed eggbutt that he seems to like, even though the French link bits are said to be milder. There does seem to be a lot of hardware with the French link bits.
Anyway, for what that's worth ...

I have the eliptical link one, it's copper enriched and Daffy loves it.

I've got the elliptical one too (KK Ultra) and the one with the 'roller' in the middle (KK WH). Saying that, though, we're currently got her in a mullen mouth pelham (double reins) which is working a treat

Mine's just a cheap Cottage Craft jobby.

Daffy can work better in his pelham (same mouthpiece without the copper) but as I'm not overly sure of the cause (ie good riding, or overuse of the curb) we don't use it often.
