That is a decision with so many factors influencing it that nobody else can give you the answer to that. If you do a search on here you will find all kinds of NR moms. Those that rode till they popped and got back on the next day - and those that quit riding the minute they held hands with their OH and haven't gotten back on until the kid is in college! And everything in between...

I quit trimming hooves at around 4 1/2 months because I started to get out-of breath, etc. with the bending over and lifting, etc. I rode until 7 months and only quit because I felt sorry for the horse. My balance was getting pretty bad at that point and I didn't feel it was fair to have him pick up the slack for me.
I don't remember when I first rode again after my baby was born. Those first few months are still a blur to me! LOL. He's 1 year old now and I've been riding for a while that's for sure.

This is what my Doc told me,,oh so many years ago.. if you had been riding alot before you were pregnant, then it was ok to ride when pregnant.

If you did not ride much if at all.. then riding is not a safe thing to do.

He also told me that as I got bigger that my balance would get messed up and would be unsafe to ride at that point.

Since I rode a lot and was in very good shape before, I rode any time I did not have morning sickness... which was for the whole 9 months.
I rode up to 7 months because I did not really show until then.

I stopped riding at 12 weeks pregnant and now my son is 5 months old and I still haven't got back on! I don't have my own horse so don't have the responsiblity of keeping one fit - if I did perhaps I would be back on by now. I will get back to it, although probably not seriously until next year now. I have started many threads on this topic so do a search and take a look at all the valuable and supportive advice fellow NRs have given me.

I rode up until I was 4 to 5 months pregnant. Had to stop then, not because of bump or baby, but cos I slipped over in the mud, and wrenched my pelvis, and it was pain in my pelvis that stopped me riding. My baby is about to turn one year old, and I'm now riding again a few times a week. I did get back on board when she was six weeks old, but that was more to prove a point, and it wasn't a great experience - I just had no balance or fitness. Even now, my balance & fitness are rubbish - I'm just hoping they return as I up my riding.

However, I cared for my horses up until the day before I had baby (we have small native stud) and was back at yard three days later, and back in show ring in hand five weeks later.
