Hmmm, well its sort of illegal to get paid for work if you are under 16....correct me if I am wrong? People usually just get younger peeps to volunteer and get experience and then when you are 16 they pay you a steady wage. Explains why the other woman only paid you sometimes lol.

At 12 you can't get a job. You might be able to get something like a paper round at 13 but the age limit for a lot of jobs is 14.
Have a look at http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/n6w/in...m#whatyoucando to see what jobs you're allowed to do at what age.

I don't think there is much you can do, though helping out in return for free rides is possibly allowed. But I must say you have a very good attitude and obviously work hard at everything you do and strive to improve yourself so I think you should be congratulated on that, well done!

Our RS has a number of teenagers working regularly at the weekends, generally they help out in group lessons by holding the lead reins of beginners. Most of them get 'paid' by a lesson at the end of each day that they've worked. Maybe there is another school in your area that you could ask at?
I really admire you for trying to help your Mum with the vet bills when you're only 12. Good luck.

Well Im 15 and really struggled to find a job and only got one on the off chance. And its not horsey related But it pays! And covers lots of expenses for my boy. Bear in mind.. horsey work usually dosent pay well (I was a RS "slave" for many a year )
Its likely you will be able to get a free ride/lesson in return for helping out though. You learn loads this way too.

I'm not sure you are going to be able to find anything horsey that pays and gives away lessons, it'll be one or the other I should think
If the vets bills are the most important thing then I would consider not going into anything horsey.
My hubby when we first met at 14 was knocking on all the neighbours houses every week to clean their cars. Think how much you could charge for doing that and what that would equate to as an hourly rate
You could then work less hours for more money. Make it regular so you can be relied upon. Hubby was raking it in back then compared to those that stuck with paper rounds (which I don't think you are old enough for yet).
The car cleaning is something you can legally do at your age

According to the owner of the RS I used to help at, it is illegal to give out free rides (for helping out) to anyone under 16 as it counts as payment, which therefore counts as employment.
Helping out at RS's is good experience, but I doubt you'll be able to be paid(/recieve free rides) until the age of 16.

Could you ask if anyone needs some jobs doing on your yard (If your on one) such as cleaning their tack/mucking out in return for some dosh? Most people would love to have someone do their horrible jobs for them. Dont charge too much, but before you know it you'll be raking in jobs and getting some earnings from it. Its worth doing.
Alternatively, how about seeing if anyone locally needs their dog walking, or looked after whilst they are away etc. You could do odd jobs for people in return for some dosh... just let your neighbours know you are willing to do stuff and you should get some job offers as word gets round. Some people may also give you dosh to weed their garden etc.

I think you have the right attitude and its great that you are taking your responsibility serious. When I was younger lots of kids used to help out at the yard in return for riding lessons. Now health and safety regulations are taken a lot more serious and most yard owners can not allow this any more because they would be held responsible if you had an accident. At our yard teenagers sometimes help with odd jobs like painting the fences or picking stones from the field and get some cash for it. I pay a girl to do my poo picking for me, and she also gets to ride my horse if I don't have time. They are all a few years older than you, though.
To be honest I think you are still a bit young for a "proper" job, but you could offer to give any cash you come across from odd jobs or i.e. birthday presents towards your horse's vet bills. I am sure your Mum would appreciate the thought.

Over here, I believe you can babysit at age 12. At least, I was! Not sure about over where you live, though, but it may be worth looking into?

At 12 it will be very unlikely that you could get a job and when your 13, 14, 15 its not that much easier. When i was that age i use to do the house chores to pay for my pony which my mum loved because she hated house work. And then when i started babysitting the money i earned from that use to by myself goodies like new grooming tools and treats and stuff
But when you turn 16 (im almost 18 now) almost anywhere will employ you providing your suited to the job and then you have more money to spoil your horse with

not always true, im 17 and struggling to find a part time job. ive looked everywhere, even putting up babysitting ads and calling shops/cleaning companies etc, also trailed the web daily.
Id say get a job as soon as you are able to, and stick with it. I think I missed the boat, so get in there when you are legally old enough (13 in the UK)
