Hi Guys!
I started last Wednesday (Part Time) and we had our induction - think I am going to love it........actually I KNOW I am going to love it!! Met a girl on the course who lives close to me and she invited me up at the weekend to ride her Palamino, Dooley and he is lovely I had lots of fun!
I have got my riding assessment tomorrow and even though I am looking forward to it I am also a tad nervous! My tutor, Fiona seems very nice as well!
Can anyone tell me what you have to do in the riding assessment?

Riding assessment really consists of walk, trot and canter on both reins you ride in a group of about 8 people. I rode broom, bless him, and you have course manger, two riding instructors and one/two tutors. You ride for about 20-30 minutes it's basically just seeing what group your in they might change you once they've sorted you all though. I was in c group with Sarah (Sasca). You usually jump about october into November as the horses well most have been off for the summer so some aren't that fit. The trekkies which arrive just before winter and are reasonably fit but very skinny and poor condition.

somemore mcfluffies arrived today from durham. Broom has become a bear!!!! Hazel has gone sleepy and Riff Raff has gone grumpy!!! Hazel was asked 4 times today to show off her trick bless her. All the horses semm to be very obese this year unlike last year when a few were a little thin.
Dont worry about the assessment, just away to see how soon before you fall off!!! theres a new rule this year that you cant jump till you got ya stage 1 as us lot last year kept having the flippin ambulance called for us!!! my friend was booted into a wall by broom walking away from the school last year!!! Kirstie is also guilty of taking a trip to the hospital when she took a spectacular dimount from Norman last year.

ahhh the assignments are easy. fred's really good untill he see's a jump then thinks he's a showjumper. They use him for stage 3 jumping. Have you seen Hazel and Riff Raff yet???? Hazel is very tired as they use her 3 times a day!!!
Just finished my yard day. i am TIRED!!! there no way near as bad as last year though easy in fact in comparison. keep me up to date as what you do!!!

Well I fell usless. I was given Jack to ride yesterday and from the minute I got with him it went from bad to worse.
I had a bad day at work yesterday and think, actually I know that I was stressed which Jack obviously picked up on. Students at the college must have been shooting which wound him up and when riding him it was just a disaster, he was prancing and pulling like a train and considering we were behind Brian in the ride it wasnt good! I got really upset and had to dismount as I wasnt doing him or me any good, one of the other girls got on him and he was as sweet as a lamb.
I know we have our bad days but felt like a failure...

Sorry if I'm being a tad O/T, but how many...ahem..."mature" riders are there at Bishop Burton? I'm 24 now, but looking to go to an equine type school in a couple years. When I went to uni for a year in the UK, I felt like there weren't many older students. Anyway, just wanted to check and see if I would be the only one!!
