horsey clothing

Does any their own horsey clothing ie saddle cloths/ blankets????

I am feeling creative and would like to give it a go! any tips??

my mum made my own travel boots for my horse.

she also made a sweat blanket.

I made a really cool fly fringe. It was multi coloured with beads and sparkles.

i make lots of my own tack,
saddle blankets, halters, leads, bridles, brow bands, rugs you name it i'll give it a try if you want any tips email me and ill help you out

Oooooh! This sounds like FUN!!! Can anyone give me instructions on how to do some of that?! I'd love to come up with my own color scheme and make like a little parade outfit or something...

Hey
If you want to make a show cover or 1/4 sheet etc, take yur stable/paddock rug and use that as a pattern. You can adjust things eg length. and its great because you know it will fit your horse! o and you can do the same with saddle cloths.

anyone suggest a good b ook that is not expensive?

in the back of horse and rider they always have an add in there for a place in essex to send a large sae to and you get a free catalgoue and i never ever got mine while i was living in england..tried about 3 times...

there is one on ebay at the mo it is called Make your own horse clothing! it is very good i use the same one!

I've made saddlecloths, stables rugs, fleeces and coolers etc and and an exercise sheet. Also covered browbands - although would love to know how to do it with three coloured ribbons not just two...

Here in UK we have T & T Equestrian Supplies that does all materials, buckles, straps etc for tack making plus some patterns as well. Their tel no. is 020 8599 3829. They will send a brochure.

Showjumper (Dolly's mom) made some rope halters and bridles a while back. I went crazy after seeing them and so did everyone else! There were orders going to her left and right. I think I'd still like to make one myself.

hee hee i made all mine leg wraps out of an old fleece rug, so much quicker than bandages! it was for a textile project at school when i was 12, and they are still going strong!!!!
