Hi lite self adjusting saddles?

Have these cropped up before?

http://www.barnstormers.co.uk/acatal...c_Saddles.html

someone at the yard just got one, i'm not convinced but then i only really know about why Js old saddle wasn't brilliant and whats good about the new SC one he has. as their cheap, they will catch on quick at my place...

Dont like the look of those, hinged plates sounds like a recipe for nipping the horse. Especially if someone a little heavy or unbalanced uses them.

I suppose we will see when a few people have tried them, I wont be one of them though.

was hoping just this once they weren't going to be as horrid as i suspected.

sometimes i wish i just didn't know that things like this were so rubbish, then it wouldn't wind me up to see people using them

We have those saddles here but they are branded as Status saddles.
They are about the cheapest new saddles you can buy over here and they are awful,I don't have one with the hinged plate but I really don't like the sound of that and wouldn't trust it at all.

My friend was going to buy one a while ago but her hubby who is into engineering explained how the hinge would open under pressure (rider weight!) and then the pressure on the front would be from the centre of the hinge (thin long point) rather than distributed properly by a front arch which properly fits the horse's shape. Suffice to say, she didn't buy one...
