Mare in season at this time of year???
I was wondering because my mare seems extra sensitive atm. Today when i was grooming under her tummy she turned to me with her ears back and lifted her back leg up under her tummy. Usually she never does this, shes also 'winking' , but i thought mares seasons stopped at this time of year?
Is there a good product that helps mares cope when in season?

see if you can have a word with Mareish on here
i think her mare has the same problem
i wonder if it's linked to her winter spookiness in some way?

Lots of mares don't but mine does she always has she has been since Sunday, thinking about putting her back on injections for it. There's lots of 'moody mare products' but I don't think they really work the injections are best but you'll have to ask your vet about those.

Yes, i was wondering if it was anything to do with her recent spookiness too?
Ive given up on the naff magic as that had no effect and im now trying equimins tranquility.
I also took her off the cider vinegar, and for a couple of days she seemed much better but now shes like it again.
Maybe a hormonal mare supplement would be better

My mare usually has her last season in October, but she came into season again a couple of weeks ago. I think the percular weather this year has confused her system
I wouldn't worry about it unless it goes on throughout the winter and causes significant problems. Some mares do cycle throughout the year without it being a problem. Most only cycle from spring through autumn.

My pony is in season and boy don't I know it. She's being a little devil ... and she's been in season for about 2 weeks I haven't owned a mare in over 20 years so I'm learning all over again.

my mare normally rests for winter but i think the freaky weather (mild) has not helped as she is in season now too.

My mare was also in season last week I think the hunky gelding may have had something to do with it!!

Sounds more like she was just touchy - they will wink when annoyed, ours do it at each other when telling someone to shove off, it does not always mean they are in season. Some of our mares do cycle at odd times through the winter as the climate is so weird. Maybe you just tickled her stomach or she was in a grumpy mood!

Libby came into season last week after the stunning ex-race horse gelding started wooing her over the fence. That made his usual companion mare come into season as well and now they're acting like a young family.

The mare I play with is almost constantly in season but there is a stallion over the fence it has no real affect on what I do with her though, shes always very good whether in season or not luckily!

My mare's seasons seem to go on a lot longer than the text book march to September - in fact she was in season right up until the middle of last month. Unless winking, squealing and generally pestering Joe are normal.....lol......

Mimi came into season last week after not having been for ages. This involves lots of winking and LOTS of squirting, which results in really mucky hind legs. Wouldn't you think it was too cold for them to be feeling so fruity

Holly came out of season only 2 weeks ago. Echo others, think the wierd weather we've been having is playing havoc with their cycles.

i spoke to Naf about this with regards to my mare and they suggest using oestress and magic together and to continue at a maintenance dosage all winter. seems to be helping my grumpy, seasonally confused madam so might be worth a try
