Leopard App?

I have a question about Appaloosas. I've never had much contact with them, never particularly liked the coloring. However, my project (whom I've been working on for about two months) that I'm in love with is an App (and, coincidentally, I think that she's gorgeous). I thought that she was a leopard, but one of the riders at my barn just said that to be a leopard she would have to have spots that are the same size and evenly spaced all over. Just curious - is this true? What kind of app is she?

Yes that is indeed a leopard appaloosa. Some have lots of spots (like in your photo) and some may have only a couple 1 cm spots.

I had a solid black appaloosa back in my teens. The only thing that confirmed she was an appy from just looking at her, was her conformation & the striped hooves.

She is a black full leopard spot i.e. white base with black spots all over. The size of the spots and spacing inbetween has nothing to do with it. The size ranges greatly from tiny spots to huge great spots. There are many different spotted markings but you have a full leopard spot on your hands and a very nice one to

Just out of intrest does anyone know what the halter thingy atatched to the martingail is and what its for. Never seen it b4 lol!

The contraption that she's wearing is called a head cable - don't know, I've never heard of it before. Kind of the same idea and use as a martingale, except that it exerts pressure on the whole head and not the bridle. (They were experimenting w/ different things - I'm currently working her without any sort of martingale, and she's doing well)
