horseball can anyone help

hello
hi my friend wants to start horseball. she has been doing mounted games for about 8 years and wants a change. she wants to know how to get started i have heard of it and it sound fun. i think her experince of prince phillip games might help her because she used to hanging of the side of her pony.what breed and size of pony is genrally suited to horse ball? she would like to have a go and try it some where in the east midlands area. i was wondering if anyone could help me with information?

They usually have a game going on during the Equine Event at Stoneleigh,Warickshire(sp) in November.The organisers might know,or the BHS. L

I know its a little way from where you are, but try looking at the website for South Causey riding school (can find it under riding schools section) - they are really hot on horseball, and there's quite a bit linked to their site.

You have to have a horse to play horseball-15hh and over,a fine tb type(bit like a polo pony) is best as they are much quicker and easier to hang off of.They were ordinary tack with p;haps a slightly stronger bit,they also wear martingales.You have your stirrups tied toghether with a proper strap(although in practice we improvised with stirrup leathers!!)
You need to be able to get close to the floor so an obident horse is needed.
If you are going to do it with your horse or pony for the first time you need to get your horse used to the ball being thrown as it can be a bit of a shock to start with.
You have to shoot the ball into a netballtype ring.
