moving a horse from uk to ireland?

What do i have to do to legally move a horse from the uk to northern ireland, is it just a case of boxing said horsey and towing home and onto boat as long as i have a passport and reciept for the horse? or is there more to it. The horse would also be insured before it was moved.

You should be ok with that - Northern Ireland is part of the UK. The O/H's father used to bring a wagon load of horses across from Ireland every month, the only checks that he used to get were weight ones so would be worth checking that you're within safe (legal) limits before you set off.

I think you would only need some form of export papers if you were moving horse from UK to Southern Ireland as NI is part of UK. However, I don't think you need papers if you move horse from NI to Southern Ireland which is very strange as you don't need your passport to cross the border yet you are travelling into a European country

If your horse is rather gorgeous please stop at my yard on way past
