fitness plan for broodmare

I am starting to think about bring Rebel back into work when Belle is weaned however where do i start and when do i start

she was pretty underweight when i bought her and i am building her up, i am going to avoid long reining her as she is broken to ride and drive however if i long rein her there is a chance she will fall back into pacing whereas if i concentrate on lunging and riding i am hoping (fingers crossed) she wont. her previous owner said she hadnt paced for ages but if i was to dry her again she would.

she where do i start ???? i have done it in the past when younger but we used to just jump on and hack (13 years ago) going to do it right this time

many thanks

If you just jumped on and hacked and there was no ill side affects before why not do it now

Until the foal is weaned you can do in hand walking with foal to benifit them both and lunge for 5 minutes building up the pace and time spent lunging and when foal is out the picture climb aboard and start gentle hacking schooling and build it up. If your foal is anything like mine was foal could be in stable for 15-20minutes without mum and not be bothered, even long if she was in the field with other horses and mum equally not phased and foal was only 2months old.
