Horse camp- Adult with a 13.1 pony??
I would LOVE to go, i have spoken to the organisers and they seem happy about my pony going but im worried others there will laugh??
The thing is im not the most confident rider and its 2 days of dressage and 1ft6 sj with optional xc to your ability and i really think me and my pony would benefit from it.
Hes a great all rounder, and will do anything.
I have my form filled out but i just dont know whether to post it??
Also im just abit worried about him being away from home if hel get upset by it all??
what do you think- go for it or leave it?

Go for it! I'm 35 and have a 12hh pony on a yard primarily with teenagers and none of them laugh at me. It seems only adults have an issue with adults on ponies.
You'll have a ball.

Well, if you take your mum with you then you know what that means, don't you .... ?
It means a full-time dedicated photographer, doesn't it ?? When are we going to see the piccies then ?

I've been to adult camp twice. Once on elderly 15.3hh who couldnt do the jumping so i put myself in the dressage group which was all the adult's kids! Then i went back to same camp with borrowed 13.1hh, going back this year with my 14hh. Who cares on height.

we do a camp with the rc every july. It's the best fun ever!! There are a few of us older people with ponies on the yard and noone laughs when my 27 year old 13.2hh gelding pops a 2ft9 jump as if its a few inches of the ground!
Go and be proud of your pony. If anyone does make any comments, be safe in the knowlage that they are just jelous of the wonderful bundle of fun that you get to ride every day!

Do it! I ride a 13.2hh (although more like 13.3hh) and I'd take him to camp if I had the chance (and I'm 24* and 5ft8)
*No I'm not, I'm 25... oh dear

Yes do it! If anyone where to make a comment about my pony I would challenge them to ride him and see how they can do!

I took my 13.2 on all kinds of things. We were used to give the younger kids and ponies a lead around the minimus X country. He was used for the kids to learn vaulting on.
The only people who took the mickey were the old, dyed in the wool hunting folk, who knew I would give back whatever they threw at me.
My old chap was a great asset to the pony club in his day. I often let kids who were having bother with their own pony take him round the X country to give them confidence.
Go you and enjoy.

Exactly! I go riding to please myself, not other people so I'm going to do it on the horse or pony I enjoy the most... and at the moment that happens to a 13.3hh pony!

Get that Form Posted!!!
You will have a great time and benefit hugely from the experience regardless of your pony's height. My mare is 14.1 and we have so much fun together- I'd definately go if there was one coming up my way. I am sure you will come back with a huge smile on your face and loads of confidence for 2009 and beyond.

Sounds brilliant, go for it, I love the sound of the 1'6 jumping, that's my kind of height!
Wouldn't have thought your pony would get upset by it, Phantom used to enjoy our little mini outings, like going to a group indoor jumping lesson on a dark winter evening, or riding to my friends house to be bathed, and going from there in the trailer to a show. Think it keeps them on their toes a bit
I'd have loved something like that when I was a bit more confident on my pony.
