Interdressage - NEW showing classes!
Hi!
I just thought I'd mention that Interdressage, the online dressage competition, are now holding some 'video' showing classes! There are lots of different classes, this month, as well as various dressage classes, there's 3 showing classes...Equitation and Turnout, Ridden Horse or Pony and In-hand Riding Club Horse or Pony. Entries close on March 7th, I think! I've just had myself videoed with my youngster for the in-hand class! It was great fun...in the snow!
In March, there's 3 showing classes - Equitation and Turnout class with NO canter in it, so lead-rein riders can enter, then there's a class for ridden coloureds and also in-hand coloureds.
April has got 4 classes: Equitation and turnout class, an Equitation and Jumping class with NO canter, so again, lead-rein riders can enter, there's a ridden cob class and a condition and turnout in-hand class.
PLUS....There's a charity class in April...A 'style and performance' class...for dogs! Like Agility - there was one at Christmas too...it was excellent! You can even enter little ponies in hand!! (I did!!).... (But the sit and stay was hard for them!!)
I just wanted to let everyone know, that for those people who want to have a go at showing, there's a chance now without having to travel anywhere! Interdressage has enlisted a show-judge to judge the showing classes and it's an interesting new venture for them.
For accurate information, all the required moves etc for the showing and dressage classes and all details about how to enter, go to www.interdressage.com. If anyone's in a muddle with it, email Karina via the link on the site...she's really helpful!
I hope the classes are well supported! Is anyone from here going to enter? It's especially nice that there are some 'lead rein permitted' classes too!

Now this idea i like. I think i might enter Jasoer in the in hand condition and turnout just to get a bit of practise in ( providing i can teach him to turn right by then )
I hope lots of people enter, especially as it means more people can compete without having to travel

KC...What sort of S&P tests did you like? PLEASE let Karina know what you like and don't like (or let me know and I'll pass it on - feel free to post here or PM me!). I know Karina struggles to please everyone, but it's only from feedback, positive AND negative, that she knows which classes to include and which to scrap! PLEASE feel free to make suggestions - ALL comments are really welcome.
Tazzybear..do you have a camera phone? That's what I use to enter with! It's just an idea...My camcorder was hopeless! My camera phone is better and cheaper!!! I record my video with my camera phone, download it onto my laptop, then copy the file onto a pen-drive (which was about £7) and I send that each month with my test on. Karina always sends it back quickly. If you tell her you need it, she'll put it in the return post as soon as she has downloaded your entries.

NO!!! The classes are 'rotated' to try and cater for all levels and abilities - and disabilities. There WILL definately be Style and Performance classes in the near future with canter in them!! There's been a S&P test most, if not every month, this is only the second time that there's a 'no canter' test with any kind of 'jumps' in it. I'm not sure what Style and Performance tests are coming up, I know Karina only did April's schedule today!
I'll propose a 'canter included' S&P test for you!

Thanks! I did a S&P test with Nimby last april and wanted to have a go with Lantern but wanted to do a test slightly more challenging really. Also i don't spose you could find out quite how strict the height of the jumps is? As when there sort of 60cm my 17.2 warmblood tends to not jump as well as he would over something higher... so although 60cm is alright for my smaller boy for a horse so big it's quite small. So don't know whether i'd be in trouble if the jump was higher to compensate for his height etc?
I'm rambling now but do you see what i mean?

I will check for you Kc, but I'm sure the height of jumps is approximate. Obviously, if you stuck up a 1m60 wall, it wouldn't go down too well, maybe...But I'll ask and get back to you! Maybe tonight, or tomorrow.

Hi! First step... Go to www.interdressage.com
Have a good look around the site. Don't get confused...some of the 'entrants' on the leaderboard are left over from last month!
Click on Schedules and Rules. Click on 'Choose a month' and then you can see a list of classes for the month you choose. There are Feb, Mar and April's on there at the moment. Scroll down to the list of tests, then click 'view test' on the right of the screen (hope this is right, I'm doing this from memory!). This should bring up a sheet with the showing class, listing the required moves, or a dressage test. Each class states what tack is allowed and if there are any 'specific' rules.
Choose what you want to do. THEN...find a friend who will film you. There is more information on the site about filming. You record your entry, then either 'YouTube' it, or use another 'file sending' service which I can't remember, OR you can send your entry in the post, on disk, on a memory card or like I do...on a pen-drive! You need to include an entry form (they are on the site for downloading or printing) and your entry fee...cheque in the post, or credit card, or I think pay-pal, but not sure on that...Again, on the website, there are anwers to just about every question you can think of, from what to wear, to exactly where to stand when filming.
Trust me, I'm pretty hopeless finding my way around websites etc, but Interdressage is very easy to find your way around.
To ask any questions you like, there's a 'contact us' bit. You can always phone Karina - her number's on the site, she'll explain anything you don't understand. She's very friendly and helpful.
Out of interest, Lucy&MrG, if you go to the site, PLEASE can you let me know, or let Karina know, if there is ANYTHING you don't understand or which doesn't make sense? The site has just been 'revamped' so it's good to know that people can understand it!
Hope this helps! If you need any assistance, contact Karina, she'll help. Or you can PM me...I'll TRY and help!

Thanks, don't think a 1m60 wall would go down well with either me or Lantern too!

Hi Kc... In answer to your question about jump heights, I asked, and the reply was the jumps can be whatever height your horse will respect! So yes they CAN be bigger if you want.
Also, Karina sais that the S&P test in March, you can canter at the jumps, but must regain trot by the required letter, so it's an exercise in control. There will be more S&P tests with canter in the coming months.

I'm so excited about this, I hope they look at adding a show hunter or pony of hunter type to the classes, that would just be the most amazing thing. Bringing showing to the masses

I am afraid the interdressage site is pretty terrible to find your way around and does need a revamp so cant wait to see the results. If you need any help with what needs changing let me know I am currently working as a website consultant. The bookmarking for example book marks as home which means nothing to anybody so I am guessing its a homemade site as a pro company would have bookmarked it correctly LOL!

I think it's pretty easy to find your way around - but maybe that's since it was revamped and after you last looked at it Chukka. So what if the bookmarking is not "pro", though - a lot of people tend to change the description chosen by the "pros" to something that makes sense to them individually anyway.
But I suppose the lady who runs it will be rather chuffed with your kind offer to sort out any niggles - I assume you were offering your services for free ?
I was going to take part with my new horse but he's on boxrest now... will be trying to talk others at the yard into doing it though, as loads of people don't have transport and don't get to do any shows.
