Beau goes bitless!

After much consideration and trying of various bits, I decided to go bitless with Beau. To get him used to stopping without a bit, he was ridden in a Dually today and was a very good boy. I have 2 others to try and can't wait for the Easter holiday so I can have a play.

Sorry, no pics-too busy admiring him! Will get some later.

How do you find your brakes compared to with a bit?

His sharer said she was having to use her legs more (do me good, then!) but because he's very voice responsive and calm, he didn't take the mick when she used her seat and voice to stop him with lots of transitions.

Give us a full update when you get to try it more won't you =] Interesting he needed MORE leg though :S

Personally, Lance's brakes are much improved in bitless compared to bit - he's still ridden bitted too so I can still compare LOL

I get confused why the aids are any different. You shove be riding with seat and legs anyway so no different just pressure comes from somewhere else bit or bitless.
Jack will be the same he's bitless but wearing bit to get feel of it in mouth, ready for when i may want to use it.

The sharer said she needed to use her legs more, not that he needed more leg. He's very leg responsive anyway so doesn't need telling twice re transitions.
I'm excited that he went so well: he's hated every bit I've tried.
