thorowgood griffin

What do you think of this saddle? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tchlink:top:en

I've just tried a wintec (front ok but too banana shaped and also quite heavy) and a shires (seemed to fit very well but I don't really trust the make!) so I think I'm just going to have a go at another thorowgood. (maxam I had before was no good but still)

I'm looking at T4 and T6 saddles but have seen a few Griffin's on ebay, so what are Griffin's like? I presume they are an older saddle that they don't make anymore as they don't have a page on the thorowgood website? I really want a changeable gullet though as he is roughly an XW but I think an XXW might be a better fit.

Thanks

Thats cheap!! I loved my griffin until the tree became twisted and I moved up to a T4 that I love even more. But in my experience it was a great saddle.

I've just bought a T4 for my new boy having borrowed a Griffin until the T4 arrived. I was more than happy riding in the Griffin - it's very light and fitted well. However, the T4 is much more comfy but a bit heavier. I was/am happy with both saddles!

We use Thorowgoods in the RS and have quite a few Griffins. I don't think the position is as good as that the T series gives but still a well designed saddle that fits quite alot of shapes, both human and equine!!

They have a very low resale value ...we normally buy them from £30-£60.

Henry was in a Thorowgood until recently, I rather liked it as a saddle, he went well in it and I found it comfortable.

The only thing I didn't like about it was that it never came up as clean as a leather saddle, but to be honest that's a very small whinge as both of us went well in it.

My preference is for the Griffins, i was elated to find an XXW in brown in frogpools sale as they are the older model. I like them, have 2 (dressage and GP).

Do you find they sit well on a flat backed horse? Out of all the saddles I've tried, even the ones that fit well at the front still curve up off his back, lift up easily, bounce etc at the back! I want something that is as flat shaped as himself
