Question Boots or Bandages?

Hi there,

I have a 3yr old French Trotter who over reaches slightly so wears over reach boots, however, he does come close to knocking his hind legs together. (but doesn't actually knock them). I was wondering whether brushing boots or fleece exercise bandages would be better to give him some extra protection and some support? What are your opinions?

Thanks

Boots are easier to put on! and they're easier to deal with if they get wet ... plus you can get boots specifically for avoiding brushing injuries, whereas bandages support the leg completely.

So I'd go for boots

Tend to be of the opinion that boots and bandages don't tend to support - to do so they'd need to be tight enough that was bad for legs and tendons.... (note: I know people's opinions differ on this and thats fine My physio and vet explained they had this opinion, and to me it makes sense - other vets/physios/other professionals disagree - open for debate ) IF either offer support, I'd tend to lean towards bandages as being better.

However for protection: I'd tend to go towards boots as you can take them on and off easily, they can be made of shock absorbing materials, some are made with air vents to keep cool etc etc...

Thanks for posting! ... I was thinking boots, but then my friends uses bandages for flat work, and as he's only young i was thinking bandages may be better. CONFUSED! haha

I'd use boots personally, there's so much that can go wrong with bandaging and boots are so much easier!
