Combination Endurance Bridle

I know Crabbetlass uses these.

I am thinking about getting one - my traditional leather bridle seems to have rubbed Rafi a little bit on the bony part of his face and I was hoping that a combination bridle might be a bit softer, seeing as I was thinking of getting one anyway for when we do our long hacks and pleasure rides in the future.

I've looked on line and there is quite a choice - some look quite 'slack' like a headcollar, around the nose, whereas Rafi is used to having quite a snug fitting noseband and a flash because he apparently gets his tongue over the bit.

Can anyone recommend me a type?

I have the Zilco Deluxe Combo bridle, i don't use with the headcollar underneath as i ride in a halter.
I opted for the one with the browband that has the poppers, i can then slot the halter into the area where the headcollar would go.
Mine does not have the throatlash.

I used to have combination bridles but found they were a hassle so changed to half bridles, basically a headstall, cheeks and a browband and I use my rope halter underneath, so much easier to deal with and less bulky for the horse

That's what I do, except on Roman as he's so huge riding with no noseband looks very silly! My youngsters will both have headstalls with a rope halter underneath.

Hi Bodshi, I got one of mine from Raddery Equine (online if you google them) and the other is the cottage craft combination bridle which was very reasonable priced, I did have to get a couple of extra holes punched in the cheekpieces of this one though. Loads of endurance folk swear by Zilcos, I've always thought I'd get one when my Raddery Equine one died ..... but 15 years later its still going strong so I dont think its going to! great choice of colours too! I've uploaded a couple of pics to my profile of the horses wearing them - chestnut has the Raddery one, grey has the cottage craft.
