he's still not eating very much, i made up some sugarbeet just for the sheep with boiling water, the other 4 wolfed it down but he just picked at it.

I supppose he could have some of rosie's milk thistle as i have just ordered 2 more tubs.

dave is going to get a baby bottle tomorrow to see is he might remember being bottle fed - should i try warm milk for him?

he really needs to get some nutrition in him and he hasn't been eating enough all week so he is weak and losing condition. tried treacle on a bun but nope didn't fancy it at all, tried a hot cross bun nope. the usual things a donkey will eat if ill.

i know very little about how to nurse a sheep sadly.

Not sure the milk is a good idea, he will have lost the ability to digest it, if he gets it in his reumen he will blow up like a balloon.

Stick to the sugarbeet, glucose and anything green and succulent.

With a sheep the fact he is picking is excellent. If he just keeps picking there is hope

Hope he has the strength to keep going xx

Did he like the warm sugarbeet? Goats go MAD for warm sugarbeet. They love warm water to drink too.

Our goats have always loved a drink of warm water and warm sugarbeet, really sloppy though so they can slurp it.

Cant hurt to give it a go not the end of the world if they dont like it - am sure Highland Rocky will manage to eat it if they dont

Is it proper sugarbeet rather the likes of speedibeet that you give them?

Never had speedi beet, but I don;t suppose if they liked a warm supper a goat would turn his nose up at it.

Milk thistle is fab stuff - have just bought tincture from holland and Barrett in panic. Also use nettles too. And dandelions act as a diuretic to flush things out.

Where do you buy your milk thistle d&t? Hope Sheep pulls through xxxxx

We had a very ill coo once, got to the stage where she stopped cudding. Serious stuff where cows, sheep and goats are concerned. A neighbour heard we had a sick cow and filled the back of our van with cabbage plants......it saved her life, it was what got her eating again. Cabbage is great for sheep and cows.
