Thanks everyone! And hi to everyone who actually remembers me.

I started taking dressage lessons on Wiz 6 years ago at a barn near my house. I could tell right away that he was bored and started doing extra things with him - walking him around a lot, clicker training, long reining and trail riding. He does not really like going around the arena (can't blame him) and he loved being out on the trail.

A year and a half ago, his owner moved him to another barn which is all the way from 20 miles NW of Houston to 20 miles SE! An hour's drive with good traffic conditions. I cried for 3 months. I quit riding him but still went to see him and we were always so happy to see each other. Meanwhile, another woman was leasing him and I was taking a few driving lessons and western pleasure lessons at two other barns.

Then a couple of months ago, he had to go up for sale. I have very good reasons for not owning a horse, but finally broke down because I just couldn't bear the thought that someone who bought him might not like him and sell him again, etc.

He is extra sweet and has super nice manners. He does give the odd spook when he is bored and even though he doesn't run off or anything, people started being afraid to ride him and would just fall off even though he barely moved. He does spook with me but only once in a while in the arena. Out on the trail, he is a model horse!!!

I am leaving him at the barn where he is for the summer since I will be taking several trips to care for family members. (one of the reasons I will find it hard to own a horse). But after the summer, I may move him back to the barn near me which has access to many miles of trails right from the barn.

I want to get him a Bob Marshall treeless western saddle too. And do I see a new truck and trailer in my future? And a horse for OH???

Here's a couple of pics of him with his best friend.

I think I remember reading about when he was moving too far away - so what a happy ending!

Wiz is now giving two dressage lessons a week to a lovely woman. After 3 lessons, he is on the bit, collected and trotting around nicely. I'm so happy because the woman loves him, he is getting out (so I don't have to go down there those days) and he is getting some training.

I gave up on dressage myself. Just can't do it. Luckily, my RI will teach me anything I want to learn so it doesn't have to be a dressage lesson if I decide to start lessons again.

OH had a lesson last week! Did pretty well. He has a calming effect on animals.
